Most Oregon natives will agree that some of the most alluring qualities of their unique state are the beautiful waterways coursing through its heart. Just Northwest of Portland, two major rivers, the Columbia and the Willamette, combine their mighty waters and together continue their journey to the Pacific Ocean. In Scappoose Bay, near the quaint river town of St Helens, you will begin your two-hour wetland expedition by kayak – on the look out for herons, eagles, osprey, otters, and other wetland wildlife along the way. Led by one of our professional naturalist paddle guides, this tour will take you through flooded forests, past picturesque houseboats and by a beautiful wetland wildlife refuge. Learn about the native peoples that once canoed these same waters on a trade route that is 8,000 years old. To celebrate the completion of our journey, we’ll find a lovely spot to sip some Oregon wine and recant our sightings before returning to Portland.
