Escape Plan:
Start the day off with a short drive across Lake Washington and along Lake Sammamish up into the Cascade foothills to our region's self-named Mountains to Sound Greenway, straddling Interstate 90, in the heart of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. With the adventurous day before us we stop to view the breath taking Snoqualmie Falls and experience up close and personal the 268’ foot Falls tumbling over granite cliffs into the emerald canyon below. This place is overflowing with peaks, lakes, rivers and streams and the perfect region to enjoy the outdoors. Depending on conditions, your guide will pick the Trail of the Day and embark on an interpretive hike or snowshoe to the nearest vista experiencing the season’s beauty and the adaptive ecosystem! Track and spot wildlife and birds, all the while making sure we take time just taking in some magical scenery. You will also witness a grand landscape in motion - as seen from a geological perspective, your guide will describe the forces that have shaped the land, which only adds to the pleasure of the remarkable panorama. On to lunch at Full Circle Farm, a 260-acre certified organic produce farm in Carnation. They cultivate over 125 varieties of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, utilizing sustainable farming practices that focus on soil health as the foundation for nutritious organic produce…and our lunch! With the active behind us, and food in our belly, we bring on the vino…Activino! We experience at least four of Woodinville’s most acclaimed boutique wineries in an intimate and relaxed setting. By the glass and by the barrel we explore Novelty Hill-Januik Winery, JM Cellars, Delille Cellars and Hollywood Hill Vineyards. The spotlight is on more than just the quality of the wine we dig a little deeper and discuss the local natural history, sustainability in winemaking and the practice of bio-dynamics in viticulture. We even bring the local ecology into the foreground with a couple of short interpretive nature walks on native wetlands. This escape will no doubt quench your thirst for an authentic Pacific Northwest wine and adventure!
