Escape Plan:
Come explore the historical inner waterways of Seattle and gain a unique perspective of the city and its surrounding natural beauty. Aboard the comfortable and sea-worthy 34-foot sloop Charlie we will explore Lake Union and Lake Washington while viewing picturesque perspectives of Seattle and its urban wildlife. These lakes, with their quaint canals and low drawbridges, are core elements of Seattle's identity and sailing provides a relaxing and enjoyable means of exploring them. We will spend five hours on the water, with refreshments and good company, witnessing stalking herons and soaring eagles, curious ducks and frenzied gulls along with sweeping vistas of the Cascade Mountains. Migrating salmon pass through the lakes on their way to spawn in alpine streams while some beavers have made their homes in the waterways of city parks! Throughout the tour we will discuss the ecology of these animals and their efforts to adapt to human alterations of the landscape. Clients can then try their hand at sailing as we head back towards the city for a drop-off in time for dinner. Pickup and drop-off will be next to the Center for Wooden Boats in south lake Union where clients can easily catch the Seattle Streetcar to downtown hotels and restaurants.
