Escape Plan:
Our experience quickly reflects life in the Northwest when we board a Washington State Ferry in Mukilteo for our passage to Whidbey. Our first stop is in the quaint and charming village of Langley. Perched on a bluff, overlooking the waters of Saratoga Passage and the Cascade Mountains, your Escape Artist will take you for a short walking tour. Onward to the famous Greenbank Farm for an exclusive local wine and cheese tasting. Next we head to Fort Ebey and Fort Casey State Park. Fort Ebey was originally built as a coastal defense fort in World War II. Fort Casey showcases a beautiful lighthouse and sweeping views of Admiralty Inlet and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The park features 10,810 feet of saltwater shoreline on Puget Sound (Admiralty Inlet), and includes Keystone Spit, a two-mile-plus stretch of land separating Admiralty Inlet and Crocket Lake. At Ebey’s Landing your naturalist will take you on an inter-tidal beach walk that will blow your mind. Onwards to the highlight of the day, Deception Pass, the most popular State Park in Washington! Right away you will witness rugged cliffs dropping to meet the turbulent waters of Deception Pass. The park is offers stunningly breath-taking views, old-growth forests, sand dunes, abundant wildlife and 174 varieties of birds. Next we position ourselves up on an observation deck overlooking the Cranberry Lake wetlands on the west-beach sand-dunes interpretive trail. Keep close to your naturalist, as he will offer some unique insight by interpreting the local vegetation and surrounding ecosystems.
