Day 1 | Arrive in Glacier Park

Fly into the Glacier Park International Airport and meet your naturalist guide for your 12-night adventure in Montana, Wyoming and Utah. If you’re hungry, we’ll make a stop in Whitefish to grab a bite to eat and a craft beer before making our way to the Lodge at Whitefish Lake.

[/box]Days 2 & 3 | West Glacier National Park

Going-To-Sun-Road-Glacier National Park

Begin your adventure exploring Glacier National Park with your private, naturalist guide. To get acquainted with the park, you’ll hop on an 8-hour Red Bus Tour in one of the National Park Services’ classic cruisers. This is the only way to ride the park’s famous Going-to-the-Sun Road!

Start your journey in the cedar and hemlock forests of the Lake McDonald Valley. Then wind up sharp mountain ridges to the park’s highest point at Logan Pass. From the pass, you can hike through the open landscapes, where sub-alpine meadows burst with wildflowers and mountain goats perch on rocky ledges.

Lake Mcdonald Glacier National ParkAfter your fill of the pass, head down through the St. Mary Valley and out to the prairies of Big Sky Country before stopping in the magnificent Swiftcurrent Valley. Grab lunch at the Many Glacier Hotel and spend the afternoon soaking in Glacier’s shimmering lakes and sloping peaks.

On your second day in West Glacier National Park, you’ll return for a hike tailored to your physical ability and preferences. You’ll dive deep into the flora, fauna, and geology of the park through the insights of your guide. Search for bighorn sheep and grizzly bears (at a healthy distance) and learn how climate change is impacting the park’s iconic glaciers.

Day 4 | East Glacier National Park

Mountain Goat Glacier National ParkVenture to the less-visited east side of Glacier National Park on your last day in the area. This is your chance to escape the crowds and truly immerse in the park’s remote wilderness. Follow a clear mountain stream, trace the shores of a pristine alpine lake, challenge yourself on a mountain trail, or watch for mountain goats and other wildlife.

[/box]Day 5 | Travel Day – Glacier to West Yellowstone National Park

Leave Glacier and journey south through the heart of the Flathead National Forest to Yellowstone National Park. Midway through the 6.5-hour scenic drive, we’ll stop for lunch in the historic town of Butte. The Wild West town attracted silver and gold rushers in the late 1800s, but it was copper that forged its legacy in Montana industry.

Upon arrival, you’ll settle into Yellowstone Under Canvas and enjoy the star-studded night skies.

Days 6 & 7 | West Yellowstone National Park

Mammoth Hot Springs yellowstone-national-park

More than 3,400 square miles of the United States’ first National Park serve as the setting for your next two days. Start experiencing Yellowstone with a guided drive along the park’s northeastern loop, including stops at Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs, and Tower Falls.

Then, in the afternoon, get off the beaten path on a moderate hike through Lamar Valley. Listen for the eerie howl of wolves, a visceral reminder that these are prime stomping grounds for bison and elk, which in turn attract the predators. We’ll be on the lookout for all three animals, as well as grizzly bears and coyotes.

As you follow the Madison River, your guide will uncover the geothermal activity that fuels the park’s most iconic geysers, hot springs, and mudpots. Circle the steaming surfaces of the Artist Paintpots Loop, before taking a stroll to a secluded waterfall in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

After a delicious picnic lunch along the shores of Yellowstone Lake, you’re off to see Old Faithful erupt in all its glory. Then meander back to camp on a scenic drive through the Midway Geyser Basin.

[/box]Day 8 | Whitewater Rafting West Yellowstone

Wake up on the wild side with an 18-mile white-water rafting trip on the Yellowstone River. You’ll roll through class I to class III rapids as you paddle the Gardiner Town Stretch and pass landmarks like Electric Peak and Devils Slide. After a hearty lunch break riverside, you’ll cruise through a scenic section of Yellowstone Valley before taking on the biggest rapids of the day in Yankee Jim Canyon!

Share stories of the day over dinner in the town of Gardiner before heading back to camp.

Day 9 | West Yellowstone to Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City

Hit the road to continue your trip south through the Rocky Mountains. We’ll follow the Snake River for much of the morning until we reach Pocatello, one of the last stops for coffee before we reach the Wasatch Range!

Arrive in Salt Lake City in the afternoon. Visit Temple Square to learn about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the Mormon church), which is ingrained in the city’s social and cultural fabric. Or go a different direction and head to a folk-art gallery or gastropub in the hip Sugarhouse Neighborhood. Spend the night in the Hotel Monaco downtown.

[/box]Day 10 | Salt Lake City to Zion National Park

Leave the city this morning for the 4-hour drive to Zion National Park. After checking into Zion Mountain Ranch, we’ll take a drive along the stunning 5-mile Kolob Canyons Road. In this quieter corner of the park, narrow box canyons are cut into the western edge of the Colorado Plateau, forming majestic peaks and 2,000 ft. cliff walls. Bask in the grandeur of these crimson canyons on a short hike along Taylor Creek or to Kolob Arch.

Finish your day with dinner in Springdale, just outside the park.

Day 11 | Zion National Park

Image of Zion National Park, UtahSandstone cliffs and surprising waterfalls await you on your day along Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Avoid lines and traffic, and hop on and off the shuttle along Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Your guide will lead you on short hikes to explore highlights such as Weeping Rock, The Grotto, Emerald Pools Trail, and Angel’s Landing. Throughout the excursion, you’ll discover how the swift waters of the Virgin River slice through sandstone to redefine the desert landscapes.

[/box]Day 12 | Zion National Park – Canyoneering & Angel’s Landing

Canyoneering in Zion National ParkThis morning you’ll experience the desert’s extreme landscapes on a half-day canyoneering tour. The excursion takes you through a true slot canyon. Slot canyons are created by water pushing its way through rock, resulting in a deep but narrow “slot”. You’ll practice the art of canyoneering as you rappel, hike, and down-climb through the slender passages.

In the late afternoon, you’ll hike to the top of Angel’s Landing to watch the sunset over Zion Valley. As the disappearing sun casts colors across the rock faces, take a moment to meditate on the beauty of the region. Once the haze of dusk sets in, you’ll head back down with a headlamp and return to the lodge.
