Our Escape Artist Naturalist Guides will combine their expert natural history knowledge with unique lodging experiences, gourmet fare with a regional flair and local brew and wines both before and after your journey through the majesty and wonder of the North Cascades.  On the trail, you will be led by one of KAF’s professional mountain guides through the famous “Cascade Pass” route from Sahalee Peak to Stehekin.  This carefully crafted trip, offering both cultural and wilderness enrichment, is a journey that you will remember for life.

This unmatched experience is an incredible opportunity to learn backpacking skills with the most trusted backpacking guides in the NW, KAF Adventures!

North Cascades National Park

Adventuring from Seattle into the North Cascades National Park is a unique and unforgettable experience as this is one of the least visited and most rugged parks in the US.  It is nicknamed the “American Alps” because while hiking through the park’s alpine meadows or along its high, rocky ridges visitors observe a seemingly endless sea of jagged peaks and glaciers. This is a land where powerful rivers wind through towering, glacier-capped peaks and we will embark on this journey to experience it all.  We might meander along the forested shores of Lake Diablo or we may push on up to Cascade Pass for a stunning view of some of the largest glaciers in the North Cascades National Park.

Whidbey Island

Washington’s largest island, Whidbey, provides an impressive diversity of unique natural, historical, and agricultural experiences.  Once the home of several Coast Salish tribes, Whidbey now claims to be Puget Sound’s largest artist community, and supports many well-known painters, writers, and entertainers, among others.  It’s no surprise they choose to live here, considering Whidbey Island’s stunning scenery (Whidbey boasts Washington’s most popular State Park, Deception Pass), wealth of local agriculture (including aquaculture and the world-famous Penn Cove Mussel), and intriguing history (Ebey’s Landing is the nation’s first National Historic Reserve, as established by the National Park Service).  Simply put, Whidbey Island is a fantastic representation of all the best that Western Washington has to offer!

[/tab][tab title=”FAQ”]1. What should we wear/bring on our escape?
2. How strenuous is this? How much experience do I need to have?

 • All of our scheduled departures are meant for beginners (easy to moderate). We try to cater our tours to all ability and interest levels – and this really depends on the group that day. Your Escape artist will choose the difficulty of the physical activity based on the group’s interest and ability level. If you are interested in a different level, we can certainly put together a private itinerary specifically for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions regarding specific questions!
3. Can I have vegetarian/ special diet food?

 • Yes.  Please advise us if you have any food restrictions or requests, we can accommodate vegetarian diets, lactose intolerant diets, and often times can also accommodate gluten free diets when given enough notice.
4. What is your Cancellation Policy?
5. Should I get Travel Insurance?

 • We recommend that you do.  Travel insurance can be purchased to cover penalty costs in the event you need to cancel or change your travel plans (subject to approval of claim by the insurer). It also can provide medical and emergency assistance protection as well as some loss and delay coverage. Travel insurance can be purchased directly from EverGreen Escapes.
6. Should I tip my guide?

 • We take great personal and professional pride in orchestrating rich and memorable adventures for each and every client we engage with, sometimes our clients are inspired to show their appreciation in the form of a gratuity. While gratuities are not an expectation, our guides traditionally receive an amount consistent with the rest of the service industry in the U.S., somewhere between 10% and 20%.
