Day 1 | Portland – City Tour & Welcome Dinner

Arrive in Portland, the Rose City, and meet your guides as you are escorted to your luxurious hotel in downtown. This evening we’ll get to know the sights, sounds, and flavors of the city. From its eclectic neighborhoods to its hip downtown and Pearl district, Portland features endless opportunities for foodies and urban explorers. Finish the night with a welcome dinner at a farm-to-fork restaurant where we’ll review the exciting upcoming itinerary as we explore Oregon’s farms, vineyards, and forests.

Day 2 | Portland – Food Carts & Brewery Tour

Enjoy a quiet morning in downtown Portland before the food-fun begins. Today’s tours start right outside your hotel, where you will meet your guide for the day. Food carts are the name of the game in Portland for lunch, so we will visit one of Portland’s many pods for a sampling of its culinary options. After we’ve noshed, we will explore three of Portland’s over 70 microbreweries. From hoppy IPAs to robust porters, light lagers, and even sour beers, you’ll get the chance to learn more about the fermentation process and what makes Portland a beer-haven.

Day 3 | Columbia River Gorge – Waterfalls & Fruit Loop

Today we’ll set out to explore one of the greatest attractions of the Pacific Northwest – the Columbia River Gorge! Learn the ins and outs of the gorge while spotting for wildlife and hearing tales of historic grandeur, before visiting two boutique wineries in the Hood River Valley, one of Oregon’s smallest wine growing regions. Sample Pinot Noir as well as some big red varietals and then stop by a fruit stand to enjoy some of the delicious bounty of this region on the Fruit Loop.

Day 4 | Willamette Valley – Dundee Hills AVA

Boasting more than 300 wineries and tasting rooms, the Willamette wine country delivers on elegance but leaves pretense at the door. This morning, we’ll start our tastings in the Dundee Hills, a sub-American viticulture area (AVA) of the Willamette Valley known for bright, fruit forward Pinot Noirs. We’ll taste at four award-winning wineries, while learning about the geology that formed this unique wine growing region from an expert wine guide and take a walk through the vineyards. Plus sample local olive oil!

Day 5 | Willamette Valley – Yamhill-Carlton & Ribbon Ridge AVAs

Enjoy a leisurely morning at the resort; take advantage of the spa or walk the sculpture garden before we set out for another delicious day of wine tasting. We’ll visit two more sub-AVAs today, the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and Ribbon Ridge AVA. These regions will deliver darker fruit profiles and earthier tones. Sample a vertical of Pinot Noir to taste how Oregon’s wines vary from year to year and tour a winery with the winemaker. Tonight enjoy a 5-course farm to fork meal with wine pairings.

Day 6 | Oregon Coast – Pacific City & Tillamook

Say goodbye to the valley as we make our way out to the Oregon Coast and more culinary delights. Today we will travel first to the small coastal town of Pacific City to enjoy lunch and beer tasting at a locals favorite right on the beach. After a little fun time on the beach, we’ll continue north along the Three Capes Scenic Drive to Netarts Bay, where we will sample fresh, local oysters. And finally, we’ll stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for a tour, tasting, and sweet treat before heading into Cannon Beach.

Day 7 | Oregon Coast – Cannon Beach

Relax this morning with a walk along the beach with Haystack Rock in the distance or some shopping in the seaside-hamlet’s quaint downtown. Don’t forget to stop into Bruce’s Candy Kitchen for a behind the scenes look at Salt-water Taffy making. This afternoon choose from kayaking, exploring Ecola State Park, or heading into Seaside for more ocean-side foodie-finds. Tonight, we’ll savor our last dinner together at an EVOO Cooking School Dinner Show. Learn to make a delicious new dish and dine together.

Day 8 | Portland – Astoria & Return

Today, we’ll make our way back to Portland through Astoria, which sits at the mouth of the Columbia River. Learn about this town’s rich maritime and canning history at the Columbia River Maritime Museum and take in the views from the Astoria Column before enjoying a tasty seafood lunch. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy in downtown Portland.

Day 9 | Departure

Say goodbye to Oregon as you are transferred to the Portland International Airport for your flight home.

The “Rose City” is adored by all who visit, Portland is unique, vibrant, sustainable and beautiful. Iconic views abound of the surrounding volcanic peaks, waterways and dense forest. Explore the quirky neighborhoods, urban parks and learn of the local and natural history, including some of the elements that have caused Portland to be referred to as the most environmentally friendly or “green” city in the United States.

Columbia Gorge

The Columbia Gorge is among the rarest and most fascinating destinations on the planet.  On the Historic Columbia River Hwy one leaves the present behind and travels back to a time when driving was about the journey, and not the destination.  This magical place is home to, abundant wildlife, picturesque towns, breathtaking vistas and majestic waterfalls, even the second tallest perennial waterfall in the US, Multnomah Falls. See the landscape transform before your eyes as you travel from lush wet forests to high desert plains. Be on the lookout for Bald Eagles and Osprey, while admiring the towering basalt cliffs and other fascinating rock formations. On a clear day, white-cloaked volcanic peaks loom over us like sentinels guarding the majestic landscape.  Wonder into a few nearby wineries let the winemakers tell the story of the land, both natural and cultural history, so that with each sip of wine you can begin to understand and experience a little more how the forces that shaped this incredible landscape have also shaped the wine in your glass, creating a terroir that can only be found in this secluded paradise.

Willamette Valley

In the past decade Oregon has become a world-class wine state, with 15 approved wine growing regions (AVAs) and more than 500 wineries producing 73 varieties. Our Oregon wine trail experience will introduce to you to some of the Willamette Valleys most acclaimed winemakers in an intimate and relaxed setting. Your private expert guide will be sure the spotlight is on more than just the quality of the wine and enlighten you with the rich ecology of the region, while at each stop will dig a little deeper to explore the local wine making history, the fine art of viticulture and Oregon’s commitment to sustainable farming practices.

Oregon Coast

Considered to be one of the best coastal drives in the world, the Oregon coast twists and turns past picturesque lighthouses, charming beach communities, sea lion caves, and coastal monoliths like “Haystack Rock,” in Cannon Beach. Forage for mushrooms, catch a crab, whale watch, hike or go tide-pooling; soak up nature in all its splendor along the celebrated Oregon Coast. Whatever you do, take a moment to feel the salt breeze on your face, hear the breakers crashing on the beaches and rocky shorelines and enjoy the expansive views. And don’t forget to take your shoes off to get your toes in the sand!

      • We take great personal and professional pride in orchestrating rich and memorable adventures for each and every client we engage with, sometimes our clients are inspired to show their appreciation in the form of a gratuity. While gratuities are not an expectation, our guides traditionally receive an amount consistent with the rest of the service industry in the U.S., somewhere between 10% and 20%.
