An avid traveler and naturalist, Robert Bateman is known for capturing the grandeur of nature from the savannas of Africa to the landscapes of his own backyard in British Columbia. The Robert Bateman Centre houses the definitive collection of the renowned Canadian artist’s paintings, drawings, sculptures, etchings, and lithographs in a sleek space within the Steamship Terminal in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. The collection spans the full range of the artist’s work with exhibitions that include his early explorations with abstract expressionism, sculptures inspired by the natural elements of bone and snow, and iconic realist paintings of wildlife in natural habitats.
