With more than 400 wineries, miles of rugged Pacific coastline, towering redwood forests, and close proximity to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, it’s no wonder Sonoma County was named one of Wine Enthusiast’s 10 Best Wine Travel Destinations for 2014. In addition to wine touring and tasting, spending a few days in Sonoma allows time to explore the area’s pristine nature parks which offer miles of hiking and cycling trails through towering redwoods or oak-studded hills. Venture to rivers to kayak, canoe, or simply float along the cool waters, or take to the air in a hot-air balloon for a dash of adventure.

Long Meadow Ranch and the Full-Circle Experience

Long Meadow Ranch

Long Meadow Ranch Wine TourNestled in the heart of Napa Valley, Long Meadow Ranch is a prominent producer of organic Bordelais style wines. The Ranch was lovingly restored in 1989 by proprietors Ted, Laddie and Chris Hall, and is a leader in “full-circle farming”, a process in which diverse sections of the farm, from vineyards to grass-fed cattle, are integrated into a complementary and sustainable system. Aside from its award winning wines, visitors have the opportunity to try extra-virgin olive oils, honey, and heirloom vegetables, produced in the Ranch’s three locations and served in its gourmet farmhouse restaurant at the Long Meadow Ranch Farmstead in St. Helena.

Full-Circle Experience

Long Meadow Ranch Chef DinnerThe Full-Circle Experience is a tour of all three of the Long Meadow Ranch’s Napa Valley destinations, making it a great way to taste and learn about the range of culinary delights found at the ranch. We’ll visit the Mayacamas Estate winery & cave, where 16 acres of vineyards and the oldest olive orchard in the valley are draped across beautiful mountain terrain. We’ll also explore the Rutherford Estate to learn more about how organic grapes, fruits and vegetables, hand-tended beehives, and egg-laying poultry complement each other to create a “full-circle farm”.

The tour culminates at the Farmstead where we’ll savor a four-course dinner paired with Long Meadow Ranch wines and crafted by Estate Chef Timothy Mosblech to highlight the farm’s fresh ingredients.

The experience is three-and-a-half hours long and includes wine and olive oil tastings and a four course, wine paired dinner.

Escape vehicle Sonoma Wine TourEverGreen Escapes is Cascadia’s premier local and sustainable adventure, nature and epicurean tour company. We specialize in private and small group, naturalist led escapes in luxury vehicles. We’re a small business with a Big Mission: to create positive change in the world by connecting people with places and nature. Our guides aren’t just naturalists, they’re Escape Artists.[/tab]

[tab title=”FAQ”]1. What should we wear/bring on our escape?

  • We recommend wearing layers that you can add if there is wind or rain, and remove when there is sunshine. Comfortable walking shoes will allow you to explore further at some of our stops. It’s always a good idea to bring sunglasses and a camera! We provide reusable water bottles, along with other snacks and refreshments.

2. How strenuous is this? How much experience do I need to have?

  • All of our departures are meant for beginners (easy to moderate). We try to cater our tours to all ability and interest levels – and this really depends on the group that day. Your Escape artist will choose the difficulty of the physical activity based on the group’s interest and ability level. If you are interested in a different level, we can certainly put together a private itinerary specifically for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions regarding specific questions!

3. Can I have vegetarian/ special diet food?

  • Yes. Please advise us if you have any food restrictions or requests, we can accommodate vegetarian diets, lactose intolerant diets, and often times can also accommodate gluten free diets when given enough notice.

4. What is your Cancellation Policy?

5. Should I get Travel Insurance?

  • We recommend that you do. Travel insurance can be purchased to cover penalty costs in the event you need to cancel or change your travel plans (subject to approval of claim by the insurer). It also can provide medical and emergency assistance protection as well as some loss and delay coverage. Travel insurance can be purchased directly from EverGreen Escapes.

6. Should I tip my guide?

  • We take great personal and professional pride in orchestrating rich and memorable adventures for each and every client we engage with, sometimes our clients are inspired to show their appreciation in the form of a gratuity. While gratuities are not an expectation, our guides traditionally receive an amount consistent with the rest of the service industry in the U.S., somewhere between 10% and 20%.

Thank you for exploring the Pacific Northwest with EverGreen Escapes!
