Set out to explore two of the greatest attractions of the Pacific Northwest – the Columbia Gorge Waterfalls and Oregon wines! Travel along the mighty Columbia River watching for Bald Eagles and Osprey, while admiring the towering basalt cliffs and other fascinating rock formations formed when the now tame River cut it’s way violently through the Cascade Mountain Range. Learn the ins and outs of the gorge while searching for wildlife and hearing tales of historic grandeur, before visiting Oregon’s boutique wineries for sipping and learning about the art of viticulture.
In the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, your naturalist guide will lead you out on a series of short hikes to experience a selection of the 90 + waterfalls that exist here. After a delicious lunch in Hood River, continue to high desert country and watch for birds and wildlife roaming the basalt cliffs before heading to The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center for some fascinating history and culture including the treacherous journey of Lewis and Clark in the early 1800’s.
