Speaking of pairings…this tour pairs well with our Explore Portland city tour in the morning!

Wind along the curvy corridor of the Historic Columbia River Highway and stop to revel in magnificent river views along the way

Feel the spray of the 620-ft-tall Multnomah Falls from Benson Bridge (Multnomah Falls access is sometimes restricted following the 2017 wildfires; we will make every effort to include it).

Track Lewis & Clark’s historic journey across the Northwest (in style)!

Enjoy an elegantly composed local cheese and charcuterie plate, and snacks and refreshments throughout
the day.

Learn about the lava flows and colossal floods that shaped this breathtaking landscape and fostered its agricultural abundance.

We begin mid-day, heading east from Portland toward the spectacular Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area.

As we travel along the mighty Columbia River we will be on the lookout for Bald Eagles and Osprey, while admiring the towering basalt cliffs and other fascinating rock formations created when the now tame river cut its way violently through the Cascade Mountain Range. On a clear day, white-cloaked volcanic peaks loom over us like sentinels guarding the majestic landscape.

We will drive along the Historic Columbia River Highway, where you are greeted at nearly every bend of the road with another breathtaking view. Here we can take in a few of the 70 Columbia Gorge waterfalls found in the Columbia Gorge Scenic Area, including the highest waterfall in the Pacific Northwest, the 620′ high Multnomah Falls. Opportunities for hiking, splashing, and photography abound, as the trails around these natural beauties provide ample access for every kind of adventurer.

As we continue heading east, the wet forests of the coastal Pacific Northwest give way to Garry Oak, Ponderosa Pines, and other more arid vegetation, creating prime growing conditions for grapes. Nearing the town of Hood River we will embark on a tour of two local wineries, each unique and charming in its own way. Here we’ll sample some of the boutique wines found only in Oregon. The weather, views, and wines make for an unparalleled vineyard experience.

While we are between wineries, your guide will tell the story of the land. You’ll delve into both natural and cultural history, so that with each sip of wine you can experience how the forces that shaped this incredible landscape have also shaped the wine in your glass. Some of the wineries we may visit include Cathedral Ridge, The Pines 1852, and Wy’East Vineyards. After our fill of excellent wines, we’ll wrap up the Columbia Gorge Waterfalls & Wine Tour and head back to Portland in time to enjoy the sites and sounds of the city!

Traveler Testimonials

Here is what travelers are saying about our trips right now:

We absolutely loved our tour. Spencer was the greatest. We could not believe the beauty of the valley. We had a truly great experience of all three wineries we visited. Spencer went out of his way to make us comfortable. He even made fresh pressed French coffee in the middle of the woods for us all. We had a wonderful lunch and a great experience drinking wine without worrying about driving. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has not experienced the the beauty of Oregon.

This tour was the highlight of our trip. It was nice to get out of the city for the day. Our tour guide, JD, was prompt to picking us up and awesome. There were only 10 of us so it was very nice and intimate. This tour exceeded our expectations. The coffee, snacks and lunch were great. You only need to bring your camera, they take care of everything. This tour was worth every penny!

The small group environment allows 1-on-1 interaction with the tour guide, sort of like why small school classes are generally better than large university classes. Justin was knowledgeable about trees, ecosystems, forests, etc.  It was like a private tour and we felt safe and secure!  My family had a wonderful time with our group; we will remember this tour for the rest of our lives!!

My mom and I did the Columbia Gorge Waterfalls & Wine small group tour and it was fantastic. Our tour guide, Chris, showed up to pick us up at our hotel downtown Portland on time and was very patient and well educated. He was a great, safe driver and made the entire experience worth our time. It was great to enjoy the scenery and not have to drive/navigate in an unfamiliar area. If you’re debating doing this tour, we definitely felt it was a great value and highly recommend it.
